ITIL® Intermediate Service Operation focuses on the principles, processes, operational activities and functions that enable organisations and individuals to successfully manage how their products and services perform.

ITIL® Intermediate Service Operation (SO) is one of five ITIL® Service Lifecycle modules. It focuses on the functions, principles, processes and operational activities that enable individuals and organisations to successfully manage how their products and services perform, helping them improve their IT Service Management.

The module focuses on the coordination and execution of activities regarding the ongoing management and operation of the products or services developed or implemented during the service strategy, design and transition phases of the IT Service Lifecycle. It also covers tech and support resources used to deliver them.

Service Operation best practice enables organisations and IT teams to effectively sustain and maintain the products and services they develop, ensuring that their users are provided with efficient resources.

The Service Operation certification can only be taken following an accredited training course.

Who is SO for:

ITIL® Intermediate Service Operation is suitable for IT professionals in positions such as Release Manager, Security Administrator, Applications Support, IT Operations Manager, Database Administrator, Problem Manager, Service Desk and Incident Manager, Network Support, Security Manager.

 

NOTE: There is an official discontinuation date announced for the ITIL Intermediate - Service Operation module in English as of 1 January 2022. After that date, candidates with similar interests might want to consider taking the ITIL 4 Specialist: Create, Deliver and Support or the ITIL 4 Specialist: Drive Stakeholder Value modules.

 

Starting from 1 February 2022, exam vouchers for AXELOS Certifications, including ITIL® Intermediate - Service Operation, will incorporate the corresponding Digital Core Guidance (eBook).  The Core Guidance eBook acts as a valuable source for candidates in their day-to-day work, long after their exam has finished. It becomes available in the candidate’s PeopleCert account, upon exam purchase and the candidate is able to take advantage of several features available like annotation, highlighting, etc.
