Starting from 2023, which certifications will be issued with a renew-by date?

All candidates with a PeopleCert Global Best Practice certification can choose to renew within three years of their original certification dates.

Furthermore, those that already hold certificates from any of the following global best practice certification groups can choose to renew their certification(s):

• ITIL® 4

• PRINCE2® 5th and 6th

• PRINCE2® Agile

• MSP®4th and 5th

• M_o_R® 3rd and 4th

• MoP®

• P3O®

• MoV®

• AgileSHIFT®

• RESILIA®

Candidates that choose not to renew their certification within 3 years of the award date will still be included on the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) but a note will be added to their record to indicate that their certification is not aligned with current certification requirements.

What activities can be logged as CPD?

Will candidates certified before January 2023 need to renew?

All candidates with relevant Global Best Practice certifications will be given the option to renew, this means that:

  • If you were certified before 30 June 2020: You will have until 1 July 2023 to choose to renew your certification(s), regardless of your original award date.
  • If you were certified after June 2020: You will have the option to renew your certification(s) within 3 years of the original award date.

Your renew-by date can be viewed in your PeopleCert account.

Candidates that choose not to renew their certification within 3 years of the award date (or before 1st July 2023 for those who obtained their certification during or before June 2020) will still be included on the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) but a note will be added to their record to indicate that their certification is not aligned with current certification requirements.

 

Will the 3-year re-certification apply to ITIL® v3 products, e.g. ITIL OSA, ITIL Expert?

Certification renew by dates will not be applied to ITIL® v3 certifications.

Does a candidate have to retake all of their ITIL® 4 Managing Professional exams to keep their Managing Professional designation?

No, to keep your ITIL® 4 Managing Professional designation current you can simply choose to take any certification from the ITIL® 4 Product suite. All of your certifications and designations in the ITIL® 4 product suite will share the same renewal date, 3 years after the most recent exam taken.

Do PeopleCert certifications get renewed simply by obtaining any other PeopleCert certification?

To renew a certification, you have options within the same product suite. An ITIL® 4 certification will not be renewed by obtaining a PRINCE2® certification, but could be renewed by taking any other ITIL 4® certification, such as ITIL® 4 Specialist: Create, Deliver and Support.

Product suites are as follows:

  • ITIL® 4 Product Suite: All ITIL® 4 certifications
  • Project, Programme & Portfolio Management Product Suite: PRINCE2®, PRINCE2® Agile, MoR®, MSP®, MoV®, MoP®, P3O®

What are Product Suites?

We have grouped our Global Best Practice certifications into Product Suites to expand the range of renewal options. Taking another certification of any level in the same product suite will extend the renew by date of all certificates within the product suite.

Product suites are as follows:

  • ITIL® 4 Product Suite: All ITIL® 4 certifications
  • Project, Programme & Portfolio Management Product Suite: PRINCE2®, PRINCE2® Agile, MoR®, MSP®, MoV®, MoP®, P3O®
  • AgileSHIFT® Product Suite: All AgileSHIFT® certifications
  • RESILIA® Product Suite: All RESILIA® certifications

How can I renew my certifications?

Retake the same exam: You can choose to renew your certification by re-taking and passing your original exam. The renew by date for your certification will then be extended for three years.

Take further courses and certifications: You can choose to renew your certification by attending another course and passing an exam within the same Product Suite. The renew by date for all of your certifications within that Product Suite will be extended for three years.

Collect and log CPD points: An active MyAxelos subscription is required. For each Product Suite, you will need to submit at least 20 CPD points each year, across different CPD categories, for 3 years consecutively.

At the end of this period, the certification renew by date will then be extended by 3 years, and the cycle will repeat.

Yes, even if a certification has passed it's renew by date it will still be accepted as a pre-requisite for taking further certifications.
