Warsaw University of Technology partners with PeopleCert to upskill Polish workforce

The need to combine academic knowledge and professional qualifications in the Polish workforce has led one of Poland’s most prestigious universities to partner with PeopleCert.

Warsaw University of Technology – a top three Higher Education institution in Poland – with the Faculty of Management playing a leading role, has become the first Educational Accredited Training Organisation (EATO) in the country, delivering PRINCE2 project management training to its students.

And the University intends to add other professional courses and certifications – including ITIL and Scrum – as part of its skills roadmap.

Radoslaw Zajac, Lecturer in the Faculty of Management and Lead Ttrainer for PRINCE2, said:

“This new EATO status enables us to provide students with knowledge, competencies and formal proof of their capability needed in a business domain.

“This removes the artificial split that can exist in universities between academic theory and practical work skills and will support companies to deliver projects properly.

“As well as providing PRINCE2 courses now – and aiming to include ITIL, Scrum and various other products in the coming months – we will be asking our students what other training will align with their professional needs.”

The courses and associated certifications are designed for both undergraduates – initially in the faculty of Management but also likely to include the IT and Architecture faculties – and graduates already working in industries such as banking, insurance, consultancy and software development.

Common language and frameworks

Radosław Zajac added:

“In Poland, there is a major challenge for organisations understanding the concepts and language of different best practice approaches. Therefore, businesses need to have a common language, framework and comprehension of how to manage change, risk and deliver projects more effectively and efficiently.

“Developing PRINCE2 knowledge and skills among students going into the workplace and those already there will allow companies to improve processes, procedures and mitigate risks better.”

Since embedding PRINCE2 in February this year, 40 PhD students at Warsaw University of Technology have undertaken the training, with a much larger number of students predicted for the coming period.

Karol Granoszewski, PeopleCert’s Business Development Head – CEE, Middle East and Africa, said: “I am extremely happy that the university recognises the significance of international certification for their students.

“The increasingly global and competitive workplace pays a lot of attention to prospective employees’ credentials beyond the Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree. These, combined with a PRINCE2 certificate, in the candidate’s resume simply means more job interviews and better career prospects for the Warsaw University of Technology graduates.”
