Your certifications need to be renewed every three years from their original certification date. Renewal ensures your skills stay up to date and your certifications reflect your continued development.

Become a PeopleCert Plus member
By becoming a Plus member, you gain access to the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme, which allows you to keep your certifications current by logging 20 CPD points per year over three consecutive years through your everyday professional activities.

This enables you to maintain your certifications while developing your skills, without the need to take additional exams.
Take another certification
You can also keep your certifications current by taking another course and passing an exam within the same Product Suite before your certification renewal date.


This allows you to renew your certifications while gaining additional qualifications.

Which certifications require renewal?
ITIL 4 and ITIL (Version 5)
PRINCE2 Project Management (5th, 6th, and 7th editions)
PRINCE2 Agile
PRINCE2 Programme Management (MSP 4th and 5th editions)
PRINCE2 Portfolio Management (MoP)
PRINCE2 Risk Management (M_o_R 3rd and 4th editions)

What is a Product Suite?

Certifications are grouped into Product Suites, bringing together related qualifications such as ITIL or PRINCE2.

How does it help with renewal?

If you achieve a new certification within the same Product Suite, all your certifications in that suite are renewed.

Which Product Suites are available?

ITIL (all ITIL 4 and ITIL Version 5 certifications)

PRINCE2 (all Project, Programme and Portfolio Management certifications)

DEVOPS INSTITUTE (all DevOps certifications)

What does this mean for you?

You can renew multiple certifications by taking one additional certification within the same Product Suite.

For example:
If you hold ITIL 4 certifications and achieve
ITIL Foundation (Version 5), all your ITIL 4 certifications are renewed.

If you hold PRINCE2 Project Management Foundation and
MSP Foundation certifications and achieve PRINCE2 Agile Foundation (Version 2), all certifications in that suite are renewed.

Plan ahead to keep your certification current  
If you obtained your certification within the past 12 months, now is the right time to start planning how you will renew it. If you are a PeopleCert Plus member, this means starting to log CPD points from your first year and continuing over time.

Do I need to renew all my certifications?

Yes. The certifications listed above must be renewed every three years from their original certification date. Please refer to the list for details on applicable versions.

What happens if I do not renew my certification?

If you don’t renew, your certifications will still be included on the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) and the Candidate Verification Service, but a note will be added to your record indicating that your certifications are outdated and in need of renewal.

What is the easiest way to keep my certifications current?

Do I need to take another exam to renew my certification?

Not if you are a PeopleCert Plus member. You can renew your certifications by logging CPD points for 3 consecutive years instead.

Can I renew my certification by retaking the same certification?

Yes, passing the same certification exam again renews your certification and updates your renewal date. However, progressing to another certification or maintaining your certification through CPD can offer greater learning and development benefits.

How do Product Suites help with renewal?
